Peewit is a setting from one of Ian Emberson's poems of the same name. It comes from his 1981 collection: Doodles in the Margins of my Life. The piece commences calmly, as the bird is introduced. Then, an interlude of brilliant style piano playing works against the singer as the bird twirls and whirls about the sky. Calm is restored at the end in a delightful reflective passage. Compass is C3 to F4 and the piece is about 3 mins. 30 in duration.
