Un Spirito Amoroso (for Voice and Piano)

Un Spirito Amoroso is a setting of poetry by Dante Alighieri from his La Vita Nuova (c. 1295).  It is sung in the original Italian (only a little removed from modern Italian) and tells of his love for the married and inaccessible young Beatrice. The poet's amorous spirit is awoken by the sight of Love coming towards him, gently taunting him and causing him to search his thoughts for a rational meaning. Compass is E4 to F#5 and the piece is about 3 mins. 45  in duration.
